Hi, I’m John Howard, Vice President, Operations at Transportation Impact.
hat would our work life be like if we didn’t care about what we do and the people we work with, both colleagues and clients? For me, caring underlies all else. Caring is about people and pride. It’s understanding that our employees depend on the entire team — including leadership — to accept responsibility for the success of the company and each other’s well-being. It’s about taking pleasure in our efforts and the achievements of our team. Caring about my role and duties is a reflection of character. I care because I should, and because I can.
Of course it’s not enough simply to care; we also need to bring skills and experience, knowledge and wisdom. For over a quarter-century I have worked in the parcel industry, beginning in 1989 as a Hub Operations Supervisor with UPS®. During my time with the world’s largest shipping company, I held multiple management positions, serving in finance and business development capacities before being appointed to marketing for the Southeast region and later to revenue management within the East region.
Since joining Transportation Impact as Vice President of Operations, I have taken great pleasure in playing an instrumental role in helping customers across the United States reduce net parcel costs with each major carrier by an average of more than 18 percent. I care about our clients and take pride in helping them to maximize value and efficiency in ways that benefit their whole business.
I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration from North Carolina State University and a Master of Business Administration, Summa Cum Laude, from Campbell University, and I live very happily in Salter Path, NC, with my wife, Diane, and sons, Zachary and Collin.
