N.C. governor tours new Transportation Impact facility

Emerald Isle, N.C. (September 30, 2016) – While campaigning in Eastern North Carolina last week, North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory made a planned stop in Emerald Isle. During his short stay, McCrory visited Transportation Impact’s headquarters, located at 8921 Crew Drive, where he was given a tour by the company’s leadership team and a brief recap of the company’s history.

“This is how it all began,” Keith Byrd, Transportation Impact co-founder explained while showing McCrory hand-written notes that outlined the parts of the company’s original business plan, which now adorn the walls of the facility’s spacious executive wing.

Byrd, along with co-founder Travis Burt and key members of their staff, recounted the company’s origin, infancy and the substantial growth that has followed since.

Following the tour of Transportation Impact’s workspace, the group introduced the Governor to Caribsea, the locally-inspired restaurant, also owned by Byrd and Burt, that occupies the 13,000-square-foot building’s third floor and rooftop.

“We have been fortunate to achieve success as a company, and it’s nice to hear the highest-ranking government official in our state commend our business plan,” Byrd said. “Being the Governor is a demanding job, and we certainly understand what it’s like to live under the pressure of high expectations.

“In that environment, time is extraordinarily valuable, so for him to take time out of his schedule to learn more about our company really means a lot to our organization.”

Transportation Impact has undergone aggressive expansion in 2016. In addition to moving into its new facility in July, the company has added human capital by hiring in sales, marketing and IT personnel, implemented key strategic partnerships throughout the U.S. and expanded its service offerings to include smaller volume parcel shippers in addition to helping reduces costs for truckload and less-than-truckload freight.
