Keith Byrd and Travis Burt are the co-founders and principal partners of Transportation Impact, LLC. Founded in 2008, Transportation Impact is a privately-held company servicing clients that annually spend a net minimum of $200,000 on FedEx and/or UPS parcel shipping services and at least $500,000 on less-than-truckload or truckload freight services. Headquartered in Emerald Isle, N.C., Transportation Impact helps more than 600+ clients throughout the United States and manages a collective book of business in excess of $800 million. Transportation Impact’s portfolio of services includes small package, LTL and TL negotiation, parcel auditing, freight audit and freight pay. TI also is a leading provider of world-class audit and transportation management system technologies.

Transportation Impact, and First Flight Solutions, its majority-owned sister company, have ranked among the Inc. 500|5000 list of America’s fastest-growing companies each of the last five years. In 2017, the company was honored for the second-consecutive year for both the North Carolina Mid-Market Fast 40 and the North Carolina Top 100 private companies, and placed on the Inc. Best Workplaces list.

Keith Byrd, Co-Founder, Partner

Byrd began his 25-year career in the parcel industry with UPS, where he held a variety of positions. Before leaving UPS in 2008, he served as a senior sales manager, covering North and South Carolina. In 1995, Byrd was assigned to the UPS corporate office in Atlanta, Ga. Having earned numerous accolades while with the world’s largest shipping company, Keith envisioned starting a company that could leverage his industry experience to help companies minimize operating costs.

The company has developed strategic partnerships throughout the United States in an effort to help clients find additional avenues in which they can reduce their respective supply chain costs. Transportation Impact was recognized as a Top Company by PARCEL Magazine in 2010 and Byrd was named to the list of “Movers & Shakers” by Business Leader Magazine in 2011.

Byrd holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from La Salle University. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1981-1984 before becoming a member of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol from 1986-1987.

Travis Burt, Co-Founder, Partner

travis-burtBurt began his 28-year career in the parcel industry with UPS, where he also held a variety of positions. Before his departure from UPS, Burt served as a senior account manager responsible for a territory largely consisting of North and South Carolina. Burt shared his partner’s vision of beginning a company that could help other businesses reduce costs.

Under Burt’s direction, Transportation Impact has developed proprietary software aimed at enhancing client reporting and optimization capabilities. Burt has directed software development enabling the company to sustain growth heading forward while maintaining the integrity of the client data. Burt’s guidance has allowed the company to streamline data in a way that provides clients with quick, actionable reporting capabilities that help them make smarter, faster business decisions.

Burt studied business at East Carolina University. He works closely with Campbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business and was president of the North Carolina World Trade Association, Coastal Plains Chapter, from 2000-2003. In 2011, Burt was named Carteret County Small Business Person of the year by the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce.

John Howard, Vice President, Operations

john-howardHoward began his 24-year career in the parcel industry in 1989 as a Hub Operations Supervisor with UPS. During his tenure with the world’s largest shipping company, Howard held multiple management positions. He served in finance and business development capacities before being appointed to marketing for the Southeast region and later to revenue management within the East region.

Since joining Transportation Impact as vice president of operations, Howard has been instrumental in helping customers across the United States reduce net parcel costs with each major carrier by an average of more than 18 percent. His primary responsibility is to maximize value and efficiency for our clients.

Howard holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from North Carolina State University and a Master of Business Administration, Summa Cum Laude, from Campbell University. Howard lives in Salter Path, N.C., with his wife, Diane, and sons, Zachary and Collin.

Berkley Stafford, Vice President, Sales

Berkley StaffordBerkley Stafford joined Transportation Impact after spending six years with Envirotainer, a Sweden-based company specializing in temperature sensitive packaging in the “cold chain” industry. Stafford left the company as Head of Healthcare Sales, the Americas, where he led a team of sales professionals to retain, convert and penetrate some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

Prior to his employment with Envirotainer, Stafford worked with UPS for 10 years in a variety of operational and sales capacities which focused on supply chain optimization.

Stafford holds a bachelor of science in Business Administration from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

 

Norm Pollock, Vice President, Information Technology

Norm Pollock joined the Transportation Impact team as Vice President of Information Technology in 2016 after 20 years with Big Rocks Sports in the same position. During his nearly 30-year tenure in the IT field, he has been dedicated to helping companies align their technology with business goals and identifying and implementing process improvements that result in significant cost reduction.

With over 2 decades of experience working with distribution and logistics teams to support their IT initiatives, Pollock has led numerous successful technology and business integration projects including M&A and large scale ERP implementations.

As a member of the Panorama Technical Council for over 10 years, Pollock participated in discussions to help determine the feasibility of potential Technology investments. Panorama Capital, formerly JP Morgan Technical Council, is a venture capital company focused on technology related investments. Receiving a Micro-MBA from the University of Buffalo and educated in Computer Science at SUNY Potsdam, Norm currently resides in Morehead City, NC with his wife and three daughters.
